The movie was set for a global summer release. Then Covid-19 happened, and that plan was torn up.

Sandcastle Studios and Sunrise Productions, the movie’s creators, turned to me for advice. I proposed that rather than the usual “broadcast, down” solution, we create an “online, up” strategy. An army of mommy-blogger influencers, supported by a handful of key celebrities, would all drive towards a premier launch night – which was billed as “planet Earth’s first-ever worldwide family movie night”.

All campaign activity reflected the heart of the movie, which is about an alien who lands on Earth to conquer it, only to learn the power of a hug.

Fun side note: I was collaborating on a separate project (also for Sandcastle and Sunrise Productions) with Grammy Award winner, Jonas Myrin. The conversation morphed into a brainstorm about an alternate end song for Jungle Beat. That night Jonas wrote the end-title track, “Together in This”, and a week later he and Natasha Bedingfield were recording it. A week after that, it was playing over the credits. #OnlyInTheMovies
