Sony Mobile –
Gig In The Sky
They were looking for an idea that would be “impossible to be ignored” (actual words lifted from original client brief).
I flew to Munich and pitched 3 concepts: the first was a very safe idea – be the title sponsor of a TV talent show. The second idea was braver, and involved making music free for everyone for a day. The third idea was to do a gig at 30,000 feet in a custom tricked-out plane… All key Sony stakeholders were in unanimous agreement that the Gig In The Sky was a “go” before I boarded the plane back to London.
I still wish the outside of the plane was lime green rather than white, but there were a hundred other details that made up for it – custom safety video, branded terminal experiences on departure and arrival, Guinness World Records, and an insane afterparty gig. #LongLiveAmbitiousClients

I would list my cell phone number here, but I just know I’ll be instantly inundated with requests for cash advances from the Prince of Nigeria, etc. Please rather ping me your details, and I’ll give you a shout straight back.”
